Zombies by the Sea – Excerpt 44
The Police had finally arrived and set to arresting all the participants, including Sister Marie – Therese. This may require divine intervention!
The one good thing that had come out of what appeared to be one of the blackest days in the history of Littlehampton. The Mayor assisted by his boys and members of the St.Johns Ambulance Brigade had the Wannabee shoplifters trussed up like Egyptian mummies awaiting the Police.
The final score, if there was such a thing gave an overall victory to the citizens of Littlehampton. Victory by default, or if truth be known Mayoral intervention with a little help from several worthy causes.
After the police had concluded their investigations, Dave Knowles and the seven shoplifters, were kept in custody awaiting the local assizes, due to their previous criminal records.
All of the Littlehampton miscreants, including Sam Parry and his resistance group, the ladies of the Women’s Institute led by Maude James, two girl’s hockey teams and one large belligerent Irish nun were paraded before the local Magistrates.
Fortunately for all concerned, the Magistrates on the day concerned were the Mayor and Sanjay Patel. The money recovered from the shoplifters plus the goods they had stolen came to quite a considerable sum, most of which was Sanjay’s as it was mainly his stores they were attacking. Relations between the Mayor and Sanjay were still a little strained, but for the time being there was a truce between them.
Sanjay was grateful to get back his stolen money, but there was still the matter of the Mayor and Samira, who appeared to have taken up residence in the Mayor’s bed. This obviously disturbed Sanjay, but he had to work hand in glove with the Mayor, which was proving to be no easy task.
However, on this occasion they were agreed, all the citizens of Littlehampton were to be released with no criminal charges against them. Obviously not let off Scot -free, warnings and restrictions would be placed upon them.
